António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, was awarded an honorary doctorate on March 21 on behalf of the United Nations, conferred by the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain) and KU Leuven in Belgium.

On this occasion, António Guterres delivered the following speech: "Truth, science, and knowledge are being questioned. Expertise and experience have somehow become liabilities. And the multilateral values that the United Nations embodies – collaboration, solidarity, unity of action, and human rights – are being undermined by mistrust and geopolitical divisions."
